Lisa Small
Director of Instructional Improvement
Director of
Instructional Improvement Lisa Small coordinates the
development of a wide range of assessment instruments,
including, but not limited to, multiple choice and
performance tests for courses in all curricular areas. She
also designs, evaluates, and implements strategies for use
of assessment results including the analysis, review and
distribution of test results and reports from district-wide
and school based assessments. Dr. Small also coordinates
the development of School Improvement Plans, the District
Staff Development Committee including the New Teacher Inservice Committee and the English as a Second Language
(ESL) departments. In addition, Dr. Small coordinates the district participation in the Illinois Standards
and Assessment Program and the Federal “No Child Left Behind”
program.
Dr. Small graduated
from Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in
biology in 1991. She received an educational doctorate in
curriculum and instruction from Loyola University Chicago in
2005, a master’s degree in secondary
education from Northern Illinois University in 1997, and a
Certificate of Advanced Studies from National-Louis
University in 2000. She began her District 211 career as a
mathematics and biology teacher at Hoffman Estates High School in 1992. She
became an assistant principal at Hoffman Estates High School
in 2000 and William Fremd High School in 2002. She was
promoted to director of instructional improvement in 2004.
