Project LinusHigh School District 211 Administration Center employees recently participated in Project Linus, a non-profit organization established in 1995 that provides homemade security blankets to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need of comfort. Continuing Education Secretary Paula Young coordinated the effort with staff at the G.A. McElroy Administration Center beginning in December. She gathered volunteer “blanketeers” throughout the building with an expectation of collecting 30 handmade blankets to donate on “Make a Blanket Day,” February 17. Over 30 employees crocheted, knitted, and crafted “no sew” fleece blankets for the project. As a result of these efforts, Mrs. Young will deliver close to 100 blankets to the Project Linus chapter in Palatine. “I am so thankful for the efforts of everyone involved in this project,” commented Mrs. Young. “Many wonderful people came together and shared their talents and compassion for a great cause.”
