Julie C. Nowak
Director of Special Education
Director of Special Education Julie Nowak coordinates the placement of students with a disability in appropriate educational facilities, develops criteria for special education placement decisions, and oversees placement policies and procedures for the district. She provides leadership in developing and evaluating programs and services for the education of students with a disability, as well as communicates information regarding special education programs and services to District faculty and staff.
Mrs. Nowak graduated with a bachelor’s degree in special education from Northern Illinois University in 1992. She received her master’s degree in educational administration from National-Louis University in 2001. Mrs. Nowak began her District 211 career as a special education teacher in 1994, was named special education department chair at Palatine High School in 2001, assistant to the director of special education in 2008, and director of special education in 2009.
