Julie C. Nowak
Assistant Director of Special Education for Low-Incidence Disabilities
As Assistant Director of Special Education, Julie Nowak oversees the programs and services provided to students with low-incidence disabilities. Mrs. Nowak coordinates curriculum and program development for low-incidence needs at District schools. She also implements placement of students with a low-incidence disability into educational facilities and programs outside of regular District schools. Mrs. Nowak also serves as the district liaison of low-incidence programming for Northwest Suburban Special Education Organization (NSSEO) programs and services. Mrs. Nowak provides consultative services as needed to parents, special education staff, related services personnel, and regular education faculty.
Mrs. Nowak graduated with a bachelor’s degree in special education from Northern Illinois University in 1992. She received her master’s degree in educational administration from National-Louis University in 2001. Mrs. Nowak began her District 211 career as a special education teacher in 1994, was named special education department chair at Palatine High School in 2001, and assistant to the director of special education in 2008.
