Ruth J. Jonen

Director of Food Service
Ruth Jonen establishes operation systems for each school
cafeteria, assigns personnel, and directs the food service
programs in each building with the aid of the food service
manager and the principal. She also administers the national
school lunch and breakfast programs, including
responsibility for free and reduced-price meal programs.
Additionally, Mrs. Jonen establishes and administers health
and safety standards, work rules, and procedures to insure a
safe, healthful work environment.
Mrs. Jonen graduated
with her bachelor’s degree in dietetics from the University
of Wisconsin – Stout in 1964. She began her District 211
career as director of food service in 1980. Mrs. Jonen has
served in a variety of leadership positions, including
president, of the Illinois School Food Service Association.
In 2004, she was named president-elect for the School
Nutrition Association (SNA). Mrs. Jonen has been a trustee
of the Schaumburg Township District Library since 1985,
serving as president, secretary, and treasurer during her
tenure.
