District 211 has 7 of State's 125 Golden Apple ScholarsAt the April 24, 2008 Board of Education meeting, 7 High School District 211 students were recognized for being named 2008 Golden Apple Scholars by the Golden Apple Foundation. Each year, thousands of Illinois high school students who are interested in entering the teaching profession are nominated for this prestigious distinction, of which just 125 are selected in an intense and competitive process. Golden Apple Scholars receive up to a $2,500 scholarship per year for four years, and must attend one of 53 Illinois colleges and universities that participate in the program. These students represent the “best and brightest young men and women in Illinois.”
