High School Equivalency Certificate (G.E.D.)
GED Preparation classes are available
through
Harper College (847-925-6223). |
| General Information |
| Persons who pass the General Education
Development (G.E.D.) tests receive official high school
equivalency certificates from the Illinois State Board of
Education. This certificate indicates the person’s educational
development is equivalent to that of a high school graduate. It
is useful in meeting requirements for college entrance,
employment and promotion, training programs, and personal
satisfaction. Tests are given at several locations throughout
the suburban area, including Harper College. |
| Eligibility |
| Anyone 19 years of age or older may take the
G.E.D. exam. If you are 18, you may take the test if your high
school class has already graduated; you may need a letter from
your high school to prove this. If you are 17 and over and your
high school class has not graduated, you may take the test only
if you have a letter from your high school stating that you have
been out of high school for at least one full year. You also are
eligible at 17 and under if you are a parent or an expectant
parent. |
