Welcome to the Township High School District 211 Food Service Department! District 211 operates one of the largest school food service programs in Illinois.  More than 9,000 students participate in school lunch and breakfast programs each school day.

District 211 participates in the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs.  These programs ensure that the meals provided to students are nutritionally balanced in order to support adequate growth, development and a healthy weight.

All meals that are provided as a part of the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs provide a variety of options every day.  Breakfast may include an egg and cheese sandwich, 100% fruit juice, and low-fat milk.  Lunch includes a variety of hot and cold entrée options, fresh and canned fruit, hot and fresh vegetables, a variety of grains, low-fat milk and 100% fruit juice. Breakfast is available for $1.35 and lunch is $1.95, $2.10, or $2.25 depending on the entree choice selected.

In addition to complete “combination” meals, a number of a la carte options are available for breakfast and lunch as well.  Options may include a chicken sandwich, yogurt, pizza, bagels, fresh salads, and assorted beverages.

The Food Service Department is dedicated to providing the highest quality food and service for students and staff to enhance health, learning, and social environments in our school every day.

Please note: The last date for deposits to be made to your child's prepayment account is May 15, 2009. Prepayments will be accepted for summer school beginning Wednesday June 10 in your child's SUMMER SCHOOL building.

Prepayment Options

  • District 211 cafeterias have computerized debit systems that allow parents to prepay for school food services. The debit system uses the student I.D. card to allow parents to establish a prepay account for their students.

  • Prepayments can be made by check as often as preferred with a minimum deposit amount of $5.00. An average student can be expected to spend $1.95-$3.00 per day for lunch; breakfast service is also available.

  • Deposits are posted within 2 days of receipt of payment.

  • By establishing a prepayment account, parents are able to help their students develop budgeting skills while also allowing for faster service to students.

  • Prepay account balances may be accessed at any time. Also, parents may receive a list of account activity upon request to the cafeteria manager.

  • Cafeteria cashiers notify students when their balance falls below $10.00. No credit (negative balance) will be extended.

  • To establish a prepay account for your student, please thoroughly complete a prepayment form (available below or in the cafeteria) and send it with a check or money order payable to Township High School District 211- Cafeteria.  Checks may be given to the cashier in the cafeteria or mailed to:

FREE & REDUCED MEALS

As a participant in the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs, District 211 offers households who meet specified income criteria the option to complete an application for free or reduced price “combination” meals.

Additional a la carte items may be purchased at regular price. It is important to note that a student’s eligibility for free or reduced price meals is never shared with staff or students.  As with all students, students who are eligible for reduced price meals are encouraged to put money on their pre-pay account to provide them with faster service.

Remember:

  1. Applications will be mailed to all households in late July.
  2. Follow directions carefully. Applications must be completed thoroughly or they will be returned.
  3. Only one application is needed per household.
  4. A new application must be completed each school year.
  5. Sign your application.
  6. List all members of your household in Part 4 (including children)
