Jeffery A. Butzen
Associate Superintendent for Instruction
The associate superintendent for instruction directs the District’s administrators and programs that provide student instruction and curriculum services, as well as long-range planning for educational programs. Mr. Butzen oversees District student services and student activities/athletics. He also directs all technology services that impact instruction.
Mr. Butzen graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics education from Illinois State University in 1974. He received his master’s degree in mathematics from Illinois State University in 1976, and a Type 75 Administrative Certificate from Governors State University in 1988. Mr. Butzen began his District 211 career as a mathematics teacher at Palatine High School in 1978 and moved to the administration center as assessment coordinator in 1988. He served as assistant to the superintendent (1992-1997) and director of instructional improvement (1997-2003) before his promotion to assistant superintendent for curriculum in 2003. He was appointed to associate superintendent for instruction in September, 2008, to take effect January 1, 2009. Mr. Butzen is active in the Hoffman Estates Chamber of Commerce as a current board member and past president.
